Annual meeting of high schools in Calabria for the growth of culture of responsible citizenship and legality.
The students of the last high school classes will meet in the open air for a day of celebration and reflection, closing an educational path on “Youth and Citizenship” carried out at school.

 

 

Purposes of the Day are:
• Encouraging young students from Calabria in the development of a culture of responsible citizenship and active participation in collective life and on the use of common goods;
• Give visibility to pathways to citizenship education made at school;
• Giving concrete outcome through the prize-giving celebration, to the annual edition of the competition “DemoSpot”, for the production of video commercials on democracy and responsible citizenship themes;
• Encourage the meeting between Calabrian students and young people in the various countries of the Euro -Mediterranean area participating in Rexpó;
• Facilitating the meeting of the Calabrian students with the main social organisations of Southern Italy.

Theme of the Citizenship Day 2008 is “European Citizenship”.

During the first part of the morning students will meet youth organizations participating at MEditerranean YOUth MEeting and will attend the presentation of various initiatives proposed during the event. Students will have the chance to experiment how “citizenship” and common goods can become a real active proposal and a concrete experience.
In the second part of the morning they will meet influential testimonials with whom they could talk about “European Citizenship”.

A stage with big screens will be set up to host different happenings of the event including entertainment sessions.

The best 10 spot produced by students will be showed and a jury will nominate the winner of the contest who will receive the prize at the end of the event.

Every student will receive a didactic guide to be used during 2008/2009 school year with the support of their teachers.
